| Family : Labiatae General Description: Coleus forskohlii is a small perennial member of the mint family Labiatae. It grows on the sun-exposed, dry slopes of the mountains of the India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Active Principle: The radially spread rootstock portion of the plant is used for medicinal purpose. The extracts taken from the roots contain pharmacologically active Forskolin. The standardized extract provides 10 % to 20 % of Forskolin. Indications: Cardiovascular diseases such as Hypertension Congestive heart failure Angina Eczema (atopic dermatitis) Asthma Psoriasis Glaucoma Advantages: Although Forskolin can be used alone, it may prove to be most useful when combined with other botanicals and/or other measures in the treatment of the above mentioned conditions. |
